Newsletter #1: Thank You For Being Here

The One Paragraph Introduction

You're seeing this because you're one of the first to subscribe to my Ghost webpage and newsletter. You are the best! I bestow street credit upon you.

Social media has disintegrated. You know this if you're here because I told you that I was leaving the Meta platforms of Facebook and Instagram soon. It's been a long, long time since I felt like it was fun to share a cool album, game, book, or news article. I think the algorithm killed that joy. I'm stripped a terrible corporation of that power over me. The profiles we remain to avoid potential impersonation. Only you will get the good stuff at SloaneRose.ghost.io.

Always feel free to recreate the original way to go viral online. Forward this email into an eternal chain with your family. Google's spam filters can use the workout.

This Ghost platform frees me from crafting perfect photo angles, creating clever captions, and milking the algorithm as one is trained to do when they post online regularly. These are the things that make my eyes stick in the back of my head in 2025. I want to be a part of creating the better internet I thought we were bound to have when l logged on in 1998.

I'm free from search engine optimization. You'll get only semi-grammatically correct highlights from me and you'll like it.

The 3 Bulleted Personal Highlights

1: Classes for the Spring 2025 college semester start tomorrow at my place of employment. I'll be hiring at least two new undergraduate students to work in the office I manage for the first time in this location.

2: I bought a $10 fluffy pillow that looks like red lipsticky lips from Target. It's a delight to sit on while winding down for the evening in the reading nook of my bedroom. Somehow this has already appreciated in value?

3: My roommate graduated with her MFA on Saturday. If you know, you know 😄

The 5 Bulleted Cool Recommendations

1: The first season of Silo on the Apple TV+ streaming network is a creeping, slow, unbearable, creeping feeling of a show. The second season is OK.

2: Samsung TVs have public access TV channels through an internet connection. I found the Woman of Wrestling 24 Hour Marathon Channel and now you can too. It is glorious to behold.

3: The Outer Worlds is a video game that has the juice. Initially reception was average by critics. I believe that was because these critics didn't have time to properly appreciate the branching narrative flow that you can see more clearly on replays.

The sequel comes out this year. I'm excited.

4: Foundryside by Robert Jackson Bennet talks about gravity a lot more than most fantasy books. In-between gravity is lines like this...

“All things have a value. Sometimes the value is paid in coin. Other times, it is paid in time and sweat. And finally, sometimes it is paid in blood.

Humanity seems most eager to use this latter currency. And we never note how much of it we’re spending, unless it happens to be our own.”

See you next week, nerds.
